Frequently asked questions

Enabling USB Debugging Mode

What is USB Debugging Mode?
USB Debugging is a developer feature in Android that allows a secure connection between your device and a computer running the Android SDK (Software Development Kit).
Once enabled, it gives your computer permission to communicate directly with the device for tasks such as installing software, running system commands, or preparing the device for Priv OS installation.

Why Enable USB Debugging?

Enabling USB Debugging allows:

  • Direct access to your device from a computer using ADB (Android Debug Bridge).

  • The ability to flash firmware, install updates, or recover devices if needed.

  • Secure setup and provisioning of Priv OS during the installation process.

It’s a safe and standard step for all resellers and technicians preparing PrivOS devices.

How to Enable USB Debugging (Google Pixel Devices)

  1. Unlock your device and open Settings.
(On Android 8.0 and above: go to Settings → System.)

  2. Scroll down and tap About phone.

  3. Find Build number and tap it seven times.
    You’ll see a message confirming:

    “You are now a developer.”

  4. Return to Settings, then go to:
System → Advanced → Developer options

  5. Scroll down and enable “USB Debugging.”

  6. When prompted with:

    “Allow USB Debugging?”
    Tap OK to confirm.

Tip: Keep USB Debugging enabled while flashing or activating Priv OS. You can safely disable it once the setup is complete.
